This year at the 130th Annual Conference of the Nebraska Association of County Officials, I was honored to present the MIPS Award to a Nebraska public servant who embodies the MIPS Service Standard we speak of often here at MIPS: “Doing your job in a way that makes the people around you better”.
There were many great examples to consider, but this year’s Award recipient is Dawn Bousquet, the recently retired Dakota County Treasurer. Dawn has been a resource to those around her for many years in Dakota County, and her service extends even further with her active involvement with the Treasurers’ group. During her career Dawn was known around MIPS as the client who would go the extra mile to say “thank you”, to offer helpful feedback, and just simply share kind words in the normal course of her duties. Small acts of large impact.
The MIPS Award is our way of recognizing folks in Nebraska Counties that rise above the challenges, the political environment, or the competition that sometimes evolves where one wins—and one loses. Our sincere hope is that all aspire to receive the annual MIPS award, by performing honest and efficient work each day… in a way that serves others purposefully.
Thank you, Nebraska counties, for the work you do to serve your communities!
